OADDP 2009 Annual Conference Approves
New Mission and Strategic Goals

The OADDP unanimously approved the following Mission Statement and Strategic Goals at its March 7, 2008 business meeting at the OADDP Annual Conference at the Mohican Resort Conference Center. The OADDP Executive Committee is now developing an action plan for CBDD locals and members to carry out locally and statewide toward achieving the Strategic Goals. Follow the Recommendation links after each Strategic Goal for suggestions on implementing that goal in your Local Association.

The Mission of the OADDP is to:

  1. Advance the growth of the public education and habilitation of individuals with developmental disabilities and to
  2. Provide a collective voice for the professional, paraprofessional, and support staff working with persons with developmental disabilities in Ohio’s county boards of DD and public schools.

Strategic Goals:

#1 Promote and preserve county DD boards as a viable DD service option for consumers -

  1. Ensure that the entire spectrum of county board DD services is publicized and available as a choice for consumers and their families.
  2. Ensure continued ODoDD support in the delivery of county board DD services.
Recommendations for implementing goal #1

#2 Promote high standards for service delivery staff -

  1. Ensure that all staff providing the same or similar service should be subject to the same requirements regardless of where services are provided.
  2. Maintain and strengthen current staff certification standards.
Recommendations for implementing goal #2

#3 Promote high standards for provider organizations -

  1. Ensure that all providers, public or private, of DD services be held to the same standards.
  2. Recommend current CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accreditation for all service providers.

#4 Promote high standards for services provided -

  1. Improve access to needed services through knowledgeable and competent service coordination.
  2. Promote adequate health and safety standards for consumer housing options.
